All food service personnel who work in a food establishment in the City of New Braunfels are required by local ordinance to obtain a food handlers certificate. The Health & Food Safety Division staff instructs the regularly scheduled food handlers classes and issue certificates to attendees.
The course covers basic food safety practices such as proper handwashing, personal hygiene, cooking, cooling, reheating, ware washing, and additional information. All food handlers certificates are valid for two years from the date they are issued.

The City of New Braunfels will not be holding any in person classes that are open to the public for the year 2021.
