Community Recreation Center
About the Project
In Proposition 3 of the 2013 Bond Program voters approved funding for the development of a Community Recreation Center. The multi-generational center will offer a wide array of outreach opportunities and services for the entire community. Amenities will include a double gymnasium, a multi-purpose room, group exercise room, fitness/cardio area, indoor walking track and locker/shower areas. The water recreation side will include lap lanes, a resistance/current channel, preschool play features, play slides and spray features. In addition the wet side of the facility will include an eight lane competition pool.

October 2016-Summer 2018 Construction
April 2017 - A workshop with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and City Council regarding the Business Plan updates was held on April 10th. The Council approved a membership fee structure and cost recovery of 90%.
October 2016 - Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on October 14th. Construction on the facility started October 2016.
September 2016 - City Council approved a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract with Byrne Construction Services for construction services of the Community Recreation Center Project.
July 2016 - Update Business Plan/ Continue Construction Documents phase.
March 2016 - 100% Design Development Documents were received from the Architect, Byrne Construction Services evaluated the design to provide the City with a cost estimate.
September 2015 - NBISD approved $2.2 million for competitive pool.
April 2015 - New Braunfels Industrial Development Corporation (4B Board) approved $5.8 million for competitive pool, second gymnasium and larger birthday part room.
April 2014 - City Council selected Landa Plaza as the site for the Recreation Center.
December 2013 - City Council approved contract with Brinkley Sargent for preliminary programming services.
